Nurse Practitioner Week Recognized at West Holt Medical Clinic
Atkinson, NE — Choosing the right primary care provider can help ensure your family a lifetime of good health. Nurse Practitioners (NPs) offer a unique combination of nursing and healthcare services to help patients understand their complete health picture.
During National NP Week, November 11-17, West Holt Medical Clinic recognizes the NP profession and its contributions to the nation’s health.
NPs are highly skilled practitioners with advanced education and clinical training building upon their initial registered nurse preparation. NPs diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses, while integrating health promotion, disease prevention and patient education.
West Holt Medical Clinic is proud to recognize and celebrate the contributions Family Nurse Practitioner April Dexter has on providing high-quality healthcare to our North Central Nebraska communities.
April Dexter, APRN has over seventeen years of patient care experience, serving as a Nurse Practitioner for the past nine years and a Registered Nurse prior. She has served patients at West Holt Medical Services since 2014 and currently holds a board position as a Nurse Consultant for the Nebraska Rural Health Advisory Commission.
There is an unprecedented physician shortage in the United States. However, NPs are on the front lines to provide needed healthcare services to communities throughout the country.
According to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), the NP profession is rapidly growing, with more than 248,000 NPs currently licensed to practice in the United States and approximately 23,000 NP students entering the workforce every year.
NPs are the provider of choice for millions of Americans. NPs conduct more than one billion patient visits annually according to the AANP. When choosing a primary healthcare provider, a Nurse Practitioner is a good choice.
