Craft & Bake Sale Fundraiser
The West Holt Medical Services Foundation will be hosting a craft & bake sale on November 25 and 26 from 8 am to 1 pm at West Holt Medical Services. Funds raised from this event and other activities will be used to help the Laboratory purchase a new blood bank centrifuge.
The current centrifuge was purchased back in 1994 and is near its end of life. A new centrifuge will cost approximately $2,800 and it’s the Foundation’s goal to grant this funding to the hospital to purchase this needed equipment.
“We use this centrifuge to spin down all of our blood bank specimens. Last year we had 64 patients that needed blood bank workups. We also use this centrifuge to check the blood type of all of our units when they come in once a week. We checked 192 units of blood last year! If our current centrifuge breaks down, we would not be able to give our patient’s blood transfusions if they need it, and we would have to send them to another facility,” shared Andrea Kerkman, Laboratory Manager at WHMS.
Stop by West Holt Medical Services on November 25 and 26 to pick up some baked goodies or crafts, just in time for your holiday gatherings.
Thank you for supporting our Foundation as we work to support the Hospital, its staff and patients.
